Audition for singing

When you're going to a singing audition, be warned that it's very different to choose songs to practice singing than choosing songs for a singing audition. When practicing, the idea is to expand your vocal technique and you do this by challenging yourself with songs with broad ranges. Just remember that audition songs should highlight your strengths and accomplishments.

It's important to choose one ballad and one up-tempo song when you get ready to audition.Within your choice of songs, you need a variety of stories, acting choices and range. There is no in between when it comes to ballads, either you hate them or love them. If balads are not your cup of tea, then it'll be tough choosing a ballad to sing. Try to find a ballad you can really get into, so the slow tempo ones sections won't seem so long. The hardest part of auditioning is choosing the songs to sing. The perfect audition song is one that shows off your talents and it can take time finding the right match for your abilities. While it's not easy finding songs that are perfectly suited for showing off your skills, it's definitely well worth the effort.

The number one priority when picking your songs is to have plenty of variety. A little variety gives you an opportunity to show off a well-balanced set of song skills. Song number one can be a song that shows off glorious high notes and song number two may have a sassy belt that shows off your ability to change gears quickly.

You definitely want songs that will show off your strengths and versatility. Always make sure you search for songs that show off high notes once you've finished your belt song. Remember that range is the highest and lowest note that your voice can get to and all the notes in between. One thing to remember is you definitely don't want to have each song bring the same kind of character.

It's possible that you will be asked to sing a pop song, but if you want to show variety then go back in time to early musical theater songs, later songs, and anything else that would bring forth a different appeal. Don't fall into the trap of confining yourself to singing contemporary songs. Hey, it's a great choice, but there is a lot to be said for a singer who can portray an earlier time period.

Once you walk through the door everyone will have their eyes on you, even before you sing. You want to show your body and look great in your outfit. Think about what the character looks like. One thing to remember is that while you do want to suggest the character of the songs you choose to sing, don't dress exactly like them. If you don't get the part the first time, you still want to make the best possible impression. You may end up with a second audition so do your best every time and you'll reap the benefits.
